Doing linking the correct way:

While link wheels seem to have good results at first, over a longer period you generally get penalized for it, for Google soon realizes it’s just set up for the purpose of backlinks.

Another way to look at it is like a reciprocal link, only it takes a little longer for the  search engines to pick up on it and connect the dots.

The way you should be doing it is, getting lots of cross linking and link backs, through the  likes of article marketing. Don’t be jumping into a big circle, linking stuff together.  Google are not that dumb, they have ways of eventually finding your linking circles or link farms.

Have it as natural looking as possible.

Because people do the wrong  proportion of links, “to many links to early on and in the wrong sequence of links.”  Instead they throw garbage links early, instead of quality links early and build off of that.  So because they get the proportion and sequence wrong that’s where they loose the longevity.

It’s all about striking the correct balance. So if it’s a lot to do with balance, how do you throw enough at it to get it up there for the first couple of weeks, (But)!  So that you don’t  throw to much at it, as to set off filters with google.  One way is to start with writing a couple of articles a week, then send them off to the article directories for submission.

ONE OTHER ELEMENT HERE, is the caffeine approach where google are now looking for activity, they  want to see people with websites update often.  Google are now looking out for backlinks that are going to your site, especially ones with a ton of links, but have no activity on the site,  googles going to through up a red flag here, they are asking the question; how can you be getting a ton of backlinks to a Website or blog and not getting any traffic, are you beginning to see the picture here.

So! if your going to be concentrating on getting backlinks to your Website or blog, it may be a good thing to look at google adwords to generate some traffic if your starting out just to be sure, eventually though when you do have your site up for a while the traffic will and should  flow naturally.  This is the end goal your looking for, thee organic searches that bring you traffic.

Now I did mention above about googles PPC advertising.  I’ll give you my honest thoughts here.  PPC with google Isn’t as popular today as it used to be.  Experts predict that at one time you could gain over half your traffic that way. Not today though, I would say more like 20% using it today.  I’ve read lately too that if your ad gets to the front page of google, they’re only  getting clicked about 5/6% percent of the time.  Visitors are catching on to the organic searches on the left hand side of the page and not giving as much thought to the paid advertising on the right hand side.

They definitely aren’t as good as they once were and I know your thinking, then why bother Eamon.  Well!  Even today I’m still using them and even with a drop in their activity, they are still a  great source of daily traffic that delivers tons of visitors to my sites, NOTE!  The word Traffic, as you’ve just read, there’s no point in getting all them backlinks, which are vital; you also need that traffic to let the search engines know there is enough activity on the site also, meaning people have a vested enough intrest in it once they get there.

Remember!! The more targeted traffic that you get to your mailing list the better.  So!  I  want you to listen up for a second.  Your mailing list is the most important thing on your Website or blog.  Yip you want to capture emails, this will build you a list of visitors that you can promote to over and over again.  It is the one and only source of supply that you’ll have if things start to go wrong elsewhere, like say your Website or blog went down, or even worse and this does happen, google bands your site for good.

So!  you see the importants of building a list, not only does it constantly bring you in a steady income, but if things did go against you some day, your list will always be there for you to work off, remember, you can manage without a  Website or blog, once you get them email subscribers signing up through your Website or blog, you can simply email directly to them with affiliate offers.  That’s why it is important to drive that traffic  to your site, so as to capture as many as you can through your list.  Then when you get the chance you can open up a new blog, that’s if you need too, it rarely happens that google takes your site down, but it does happen.

You would really need to be doing something wrong for this to happen.

Hope this helped.

All the best.

Eamon.
