  1. Hi Mandy,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, “open office” is certainly a good choice – although I do have microsoft office, I still tend to use open office for my eBooks…saying that though I do use microsoft for my powerpoint presentations.

Open office do have their own powerpoint presentations also and are capable of doing every bit as much as microsoft for what you need to accomplish…anyone starting online today might not have the microsoft option because they’ve moved it to a paying option and don’t give it in the package you buy, i.e. (whatever desktop or laptop you buy) any more for free.

That’s where the beauty of “open office” comes into its own…you get it for free and it does every bit as good a job as microsoft :-) .

  2. Hi Eamon, First class video mate, pure excellence!! I’ve been using open office since i started creating eBooks and your video showed me things i didn’t know.

I tried using MS word with their PDF creator and found that i preferred Open Office, but that’s different folks different strokes. I know that some prefer MS word, but for me it’s open office, and the fact that it is free to download means the only thing holding people back are the people themselves.

With the help of your video Eamon you should have them up and running in no time.

    Catch up again soon mate,
    Respect and Regards, Barry

  3. Hey Barry,

Glad you liked the video…I fully agree with you Barry that the only thing that’s holding people back is themselves, it’s not to often software like this comes along that has all the functions you would every need to create your ebooks and produce them into a pdf.

I was watching the clock a bit when doing the video as you know YouTube has that 15 minute cap on time, I would have liked to cover a bit more on open office…saying that I may just knock out another quickie to cover converting it into pdf and so on, I’ll see what time I have :-) .

Good to hear from you mate, hope all’s well.

Hi Eamon, I know what you mean about the length of the videos for YouTube. I had the same trouble and often went over the limit and had to redo the whole video to try shave a few minutes off.

I’ve recently uploaded my 20th Video and was informed by YouTube that I can now upload videos of any length. In other words my time limit has been lifted :)

So if can make some short ones Eamon and get your uploads up to 20 then you’ll be able do likewise and stop watching the clock whilst makeing your videos.

    Hope that helps mate.

Have a great weekend Eamon, back soon

  4. Hi Barry,

I heard that a while back, that you had to have so many videos uploaded before they lifted the cap on it, but wasn’t sure how many…but now I do :-) .

I’d need to really get a push on with the video department and get things moving, because I want to start using them more and more for showing stuff and also using them for video squeeze pages.

You have yourself a good weekend too mate; I’ll catch up soon.

  6. Hi Ed,

Thanks for the comment mate. I’m glad people liked the video, might do another as I’m still getting them few emails through saying, hey Eamon that was good, can you show me how to wrap text around pictures and stuff like that and how to convert into pdf…:-).

Getting the time isn’t easy as you probable know Ed…I think I told you this before Ed, that I wanted to get to grips with facebook, Well that’s what’s been holding me back – but I’ve learned a lot on it and would like to do a lot of up-coming videos on how to use it, to show people the power it has for bringing in targeted traffic.

There’s a lot that tell you to stay away from it, for it will only hold you back and waste all of your time up :-) .

Let me say I believe it is the way foward, I see so much potential using this giant to connect online by using their pages section for doing business…do you have a page set up in facebook Ed?

Thanks for poping by Ed, I’ll pop over soon to your blog mate when I get a bit of time on my hands :-) .

  7. Hi Eamon,

Great video and well executed :-)

Personally I prefer Micrsoft Word over Open Office (yeah I can hear boo’s). I can use both and have done in the past, but I prefer the objects usage with Microsoft Word.

I recenetly created a new report without using footers and headers, but replaced them with objects and it does look good. It can be a little akward but I find it works great and looks individual.

    Great post Eamon cheers!

  8. Hi Daniel,

Thanks for stopping by! I hear what your saying with using microsoft…a lot of people prefer to use it as apposed to open office.

I suppose you have the best of both being able to pick and choose :-) .

Certainly microsoft has got its advantages, but not all the new computers have microsoft now when you purchase one, so for people that can’t afford to buy microsofts version right now; openoffice gives them the chance to move along until such times as they have a little money to throw at it.

  10. Hi Zahid,

    Thanks for the comment Zahid.

Ahh, I hear you loud and clear about not having enough time in the day to get things done, lol.

Videos are great Zahid and probably the best when it comes to driving traffic to any Website blog or offer, with YouTube and Facebook combined there’s so much one can be doing to get things roling and that’s what I intend to be doing over the coming months.

Must pop by and read that guest post John has left on your blog.

Catch up with you later Zahid.

  11. Hi Kerry,

Good to here from you and yip, things are good; so far anyhow :) .

I remember when I started using open office I’d look at it and think, Hmmm….where I’m I going to start, so I sort of picked it up as I went along, because I could never find any video’s showing how to properly use it.

When I started getting a few emails from some people about how to use it, I thought…why not do a video instead of trying to explain it in writing where people could get a good overview directly on screen and it has seemed to help people out, glad I did it now, it’s always good to help as you and I both know what it was like when we both started out.

Thanks again for stopping by, catch up soon Kerry.
