Hello and welcome back to another issue of IM Success journal.
In the last video I mentioned Amazon s3 – so what is Amazon s3 and why would we want to use it?
First off…in the beginning you won’t need to worry to much about Amazon s3, unless you are a massive company who is looking to get online with your business, but if you’re just going to be using it for a blog and such…then don’t be worrying to much about it in the beginning – because your first priority is to first learn the whole process.
OK! it’s all to do with keeping our own servers from being overloaded to the point where your hosting company will eventually contact you, with something like…you are reaching your limit. Now don’t let this upset you, just take note that at some stage it may happen to you.
When you start out online…the first thing you want to do is get online for as cheap as you possibly can and why not, after all you don’t want to be just throwing money away if you don’t need too. The problem is however, once you begin to get more attention and people start to come by your blog or website on a daily basis – this begins to put a lot more pressure on your server.
Another thing…90% of people that come online for the first will chose the SHARED SERVER OPTION because they’ve mostly been told that’s all they’ll need which will keep the cost down. you know this is fine in the beginning – but the problem arises when your blog begins to get popular…the more people who start to show up to your blog…the more pressure your server will be under.
Now what you can do is upgrade your server at some point if need be to a better package, but this can be expensive as you’d be upgrading to either a VSP or dedicated server, so this is where Amazon s3 comes into play.
Amazon s3 is so cheap to host with – the reason most people use it is because video takes up a lot of space, so instead of hosting video with their own server – they use Amazons cheap hosting servers.
After watching the video – if you would like to read some more about amazon s3 services, (as I say), I have written a blog post on it and you can do so by clicking ==>> HERE.
So let’s go and get a better understanding of how Amazon s3 works.
