Some Internet Marketing Advice Especially for The Beginner and Struggling Marketer.
Everyone now and again needs a little inspiration to move along, especially if you are just starting out, so I wanted to take a little time and give some encouragement to help out if you find things aren’t going your way.
Now a lot of people get information overload where they just sit and read endlessly and don’t actually put into practice what they’ve learned. Guys it’s simply a matter of learning the (basics) which doesn’t take that long, then test them out.
Yip! Seriously, read that part again.
Don’t be telling your friends either that you’re going to be rich in a few months, by reading all the hyped up money programs that’s going to make you rich if you buy into them NOW! Talks cheap, instead take action.
Just start doing something. it doesn’t have to be big, START SMALL if you’re a beginner. At least take action and try, yes you may have to spend a little on hosting, buying a domain, but it’s so cheap. You may even fail at your first attempt, but don’t beat yourself up over it. Let me tell you, I’ve tried new things and they didn’t work out, but I never quit. I kept on plugging away and found something that did, when this happens you scale it up.
So enough with the reading, go give that something you’re thinking of doing a shot, don’t take it personally if you fail at it first time. Think of it as an experience and move on, that’s it. Just give whatever you were thinking of doing a shot and take action “NOW”. When something isn’t going your way, “Learn To Stay Relaxed” and find what went wrong.
I discovered something along the way when figuring such things out and you’ll be surprised at how simple these things can be once you see the answer. Have you ever wondered how seemingly un-intelligent people seem to become successful at this business. Well I’ll explain.
It’s a process of figuring out what people want online and giving it to them. Yip it follows a process! People over complicate things and gave up because they actually have to much information overload and have to much to choose from by continuously reading and not setting out in stone what they’ve learnt.
Remember it’s the simplest of people who will succeed at this marketing on-line other than the people who complicate things for themselves. Lets recap on a few things.
1. Keep things simple, remember people that succeed at this aren’t any smarter. They figured out the process and it is a process.
2. Nothing will happen for you if you don’t take action >>> this is a big one…follow through on them ideas…
3. Focus on small achievements in the beginning.
4. Don’t be throwing all your money away on endless products before you’ve even taken a stab at this, even if it’s a stab in the dark, start a blog and build on it.
5. When taking action, learn as you go along, this is kind of where I went wrong, other wise known as procrastination, where I would keep reading and reading and kept putting things off instead of taking action as I learnt, you will encounter some failures but they can all be overcome.
6. Don’t beat yourself up for failing first time round. Remember your days as a student at school, you weren’t expected to learn things right away. If you have kids you don’t expect them to learn something new right away.
With Internet Marketing you will have to learn something new every day to stay in touch with all the new methods and tactics that’s coming along, but just remember? Put What you learn into gear straight away before you forget what is was you learned.
If you are having difficulties, please leave a comment and I’ll try to point you in the right direction.

Hey Eamon,
Great post and very useful for beginners. You definitely have to be prepared to fail online before you actually make any money but the secret is to just keep plodding on like you say. On average it takes around 2 years, sometimes more to really find your way forward with a system that works for you. What people have to remember is that ‘what works for one doesn’t always work for another’. If your really passionate about making money online, get yourself a mentor. You may have to go through several before you find one that suits you but you will get there in the end. That hardest part is making your first $1 but once you do things just get better.
All the best in 2011

Hi Kerry,
You’re spot on by saying keep plodding away at it and yes finding yourself a mentor that has came through it and is qualified to teach you, this can knock off 50% to 60% of the learning curve and maybe even more.
This quote will always stay with me from the time I was starting out. I came across it when browsing and “just at the right time too”.
“How To Succeed”! “Try Hard Enough” Malcolm Forbes, any time I feel like putting stuff off to another day, just before I hit that off button, I have this little note stuck just above it and for some reason it has kept me from doing so till this day…

Hi Eamon
This is a great post, it really gets you to focus on the basics that will get you going forward.
Its tough when you start, everything is so alien, time consuming and you are on a steep learning curve.
I am on John Thornhills Master class program and it’s really helped me to get going.
I set my self tasks each day with time limits to achieve in the same day…so I see a result and its a achievement.
It also gets you to focus on getting things done and not dilly dallying..on facebook etc
Great stuff, I have just done a post on time management on my site which compliments your piece quite well.
Regards

Hi Zahid,
I here what you’re saying! It’s good to set aside tasks in your daily schedule and stick to them. You’re also right on about “Facebook,” it can waste up a lot of time and send you off track.
Facebook is a fantastic place to go too once you do get established; for it can bring in a lot of traffic, but you would have to kind of use it as a second homebase as you have to be around it everyday to keep on top of things.
If however you did crack it! You’d have no problem staying there as it has all the traffic you’d ever want.
Eamon.
