Hello all! I was late at finding out that Barry Wells was holding a challenge as part of a traffic tactic through learning with Sally Neill, but I didn’t want to let Barry down — so it’s Monday 5 o clock and I thought…ah what the heck, I’ll spare an hour and throw up a couple of videos for the guy
(anything for you Barry, lol).
Most of you will know this, but their are a few that are starting out that won’t. I have created the videos in HD for YouTube and if you want to view them in better quality, go to the bottom bar and choose the 720p option — then go full screen. The image below will give you a clearer understanding.
Understanding Camtasia — Video 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEZScRdBZtA
Understanding Camtasia — Video 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF9FgpG0hHc
I hope you enjoy the videos — as I say! They were a little rushed as they were a last minute thing, but I think they get the message across OK
.
Here is the embed code for the second option, it will over-ride the default settings…
![]()
So if you wanted to add say a video to certain pages with different dimensions, then this is the code to use. You can change the width and height to your own specifications.

Hi Eamon, wow what a couple of videos to enter into my challenge.
I want to thank you for squeezing in the time to create the two videos Eamon. I know that you’re on a tight schedule and I really appreciate the fact you made these for us.
Now onto the videos: Both are first class Eamon, I’ve just bought Camtasia and found the editing facility a life saver. I’ve actually started creating my videos in just one take ye-ha.
I for one will be watching your videos over and again mate. The lessons are just what I needed and I know that you’ve just improved the quality of my videos, ha ha fantastic Eamon, thanks.
I’ve also found that adding youtube videos to our blogs can be a mare when we switch from html view to visual. So the second lesson was a very welcome one as well Eamon. It’s so much easier when you know how and now many of us are going to learn just how easy it can be.
Excellent videos Eamon, thank you for creating them and making it much easier for everyone else (especially me
)
Respect and Regards, Barry

Hi Barry
Thanks for the nice comment, I’m glad it’s going to help out. Yeah! Was pushed for time and left it to the last munite didn’t I, lol.
I’ll get over to your blog shortly, I was over there a few times today looking to see what way other people were getting on and what way you were looking the links dropped into your blog and (wow)! I’ve never seen so many people gathered in the one place.
You’ve definitly set the pace for your challenge Barry and I do wish you all the best with it, always like the content you have going on there.

These are some great, high quality videos. Thanks for making them. I used to use Camtasia years ago, but it’s gotten really complex now and actually need to do some reading and research to use it now.

Hey Dan
Thanks for the comment, Yeah! Camtasias new interface looks crowded doesn’t it…but once you start doing a couple of trial videos — it really does become easier.
There was a lot more I’d loved to have covered — but! I’ve found keeping the videos between 10 to 15 minutes are what people prefer; ah well maybe do some more later down the line
Have a great day,
Eamon

Hi Eamon,
Great Videos! Awesome!
Considering I have only just started playing with Camtasia this is perfect timing. I am actually looking forward to creating more little videos now.
Thank you for the share!
I hope all is going well.
See you back here soon!
Cheers

Hi Jacinta
Thanks for the kind comment, how’s that flitter for twitter working out for you
, I’m using it flat out and love it.
I’d sort of lost track on twitter for a while as I was doing so many videos on fb and G+, but I’m back using it…yes I have it partially automated through twitter feed – but you really have to be in there everyday checking things, that’s where the neat tool flitter that you pointed out comes in
No probs on the twitter share – I also shared you on my fb page, just incase you didn’t see the share on your personal account….I do share sometimes on my personal account, but not very often as you know Facebook has it in their terms, they don’t like you to do that all the time, so most of my stuff goes to my Page.
Have a nice day Jacinta,
Eamon

Hi Zahid
Thanks for popping over Mate and leaving a comment.
Yes I’ll be keeping the instructions up on my blog – you’ll soon catch on to video Zahid
and once that happens, you’ll be hooked.
I love video – they’re great for everyone. , I know there’s the few out there that still like to learn with reading, maybe 10/15% but the majority like to learn through watching video; so it only makes sence to keep knocking them out
Have a nice day,
Eamon

HI Eamon, these are really great video, I learnt more by watching these than on the Techsmith site. Thanks for explaining about the embed code going missing when you change from Visual to HTML it was ding my head in!! No longer.

Hi Rob
Thanks for the comment…
Yeah!!! That old embed code
it used to annoy me too, having to switch back and forth, so I went hunting wordpress for a solution.
I started reading up on wordpress a bit and sure enough, I can across it.
Glad you liked the videos.
Have a nice day,
Eamon.

Brilliant videos, Eamon!
I’m a Camtasia user but have only learned how to use a handful of its features, thanks to your tutorial I now feel confident about using it to its full potential!
Thanks!

Hi Stuart
Thanks for stopping by…
Glad you liked the videos, I must get by you way again, always loved getting a good old read at your blog and finding out more stuff on eBay.
I’ve been so bogged down with videos, I never seem to get time for anything else, lol.
Have a nice day Stuart,

Hey Eamon,
Well, I had to hop over here and check out your videos since you also participated in Barry’s challenge.
You do look like an old pro now. Great job on explaining how to use Camtasia. I don’t have the upgraded version, I usually don’t upgrade unless there is a new feature I just have to have. But I do love the look of the program. I’m sure I’ll upgrade in the near future.
Great job explaining it though. I now know where to send people who need a little extra help with understanding how to use the program.
Thanks again and great job.

Hi Adrienne
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice comment.
Ha ha! An old pro, I haven’t heard that one in a long time – made me giggle. I Know what you mean about the upgrading, I wouldn’t upgrade either unless I needed, but I started making a lot of videos and said to myself…I think it’s time to change up and see if it would make my job easier “lol” and it has, so I’m glad I did.
I must stop by your blog sometime, love to see what you’re up to, thanks again.
Have a nice day Adrienne,
Eamon.

Hello Eamon,
I don’t have Camtasia, but when the time comes to get it, I certainly know where to come back for some lessons.
With regard to a code being stripped when entered in html and changing to visual on your blog, well I’ve just learnt how to solve that one, Thank you
- it was really annoying.
Great videos Eamon, thank you so much for giving us those lessons, really pleased you took the time to make them at the last minute.
Take Care
Cheers

Hi Julie
Thanks for the drop in, much appreciated.
Glad you liked the videos – I know it was a last minute rush, but I didn’t want to let Barry down, he’d try his best for us
That old html! Used to bug the heck out of me too; lol. I think it was about 6 months ago…I was doing some video and came back to edit where I needed to switch to visual and it kept stripping that code out.
I couldn’t find anywhere on YouTube that could show how to fix it, or any website and believe me I searched, anything for a quick answer, rather than having to sift through a pile of reading in wordpress; lol.
Good to here from you Julie,
have a nice day
Eamon.

Hi Eamonn, brilliant tutorials, thank you. I took the time to watch the Camtasia tutorials when I got it but I am sure they haven’t explained much of what you have show here. Great info for me!
Enjoy the journey.

Hi Mandy
How are things…thanks for dropping in.
A lot of people are saying that about the camtasia tutorials…that they’re a little difficult to understand, I did view their help center and I sort of get a feeling for what they mean.
I’m just glad I did the video now, I’d love to have covered more, but had to keep things below the 15 min, as it was going to YouTube, also in saying that – people seem to like videos that are between 10 to 15min, spoz they can absorb more from it, who knows.
What I wanted to cover was the tools section that everyone would use in a basic video and it’s what most people will find the most important when creating video, as I say! There is advanced sections – but the tools I showed is probably what 90% of the people will every need
.
Have a good day’
Eamon

Hi Eamon,
Wow your videos are really comprehensive. You should have put in an affiliate link to the product hahah!
I checked out the price of camtasia so I think for now I’ll have to make do with the free ones but the video looks excellent!! Quite powerful with heaps of good options!
Thanks for the video.

Hi Nick
Thanks for the comment – I’m glad you liked the videos, I’m with you on the free tools Nick, I’d say use as many free tools as you can until you need to spend, haha
.
Which affiliate link do you mean Nick?
I have a course where it explains how to create your own Facebook FanPage, but it’s FREE, so there’s no affiliate material with it, I did give Barry access to it and John Edwards, because it is good to get feedback, I have to give John Edwards credit – he took full advantage of it and has his Fanpage online.
Again thanks Nick for stopping by…
have a nice day,
Eamon.
P.S. If you like Nick, here’s the link to the FREE course, you will have to enter your details, but if you contact Barry, he’ll fill you in.

Hi Dawn
How’s things been…
Camtasia whizz, aw don’t know about that, lol. So you’ve got yourself camtasia up and running, it’ll not be long before you’re the expert
.
You liked my accent then lol, recording myself in the video…well! it’s a bit weird in the beginning, but once you do a few, it gets easier.
Thanks for stopping in.
Have a nice day Dawn,

Hey Eamon,
Really cool tutorials. I am still learning Camtasia and I have used Josh Bartlet (EVP) and James Dyson (OP) products and when you produce videos they both explain using a free product called “Handbrake”
To make your videos optimized for website viewing.
What do you think?
Or should we just use your recommendations in video 2?

Hey Craig,
Thanks for stopping by,
I do use handbrake too and like yourself, I’ve also purchased optimise press and saw the tutorial James had made on Handbrake.
Handbrake is certainly a fantastic tool for cutting the size of your videos down
when you’re uploading them to other places like your server or AS3, but for the likes of YouTube — they do that for us anyway, so I never use handbrake for there; but if I was uploading to certain other places…I do use it occasionally – but it depends how the videos resolution turns out at the end when I view it.
Thanks Craig,
Eamon.
